ED is a common problem affecting men, especially those aged 40-70 years old. Nearly 20 million men in the United States are affected by the condition, which can have many causes. At times, men may experience psychological conditions, such as depression or anxiety, that may cause or contribute to ED.

ED has 2 categories:

  • Primary ED: Men affected by this rare condition have never been able to have or sustain a penile erection. Primary ED is often due to a physical abnormality or a psychological cause.
  • Secondary ED: This form is typically caused by a physical condition. Causes range from conditions such as diabetes, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and physical injuries. This group of men will likely have had erections in the past.

Certain medications, such as those to treat high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, depression, cancer, and long-term pain, may contribute to the condition. Some of these medications include:

  • beta-blockers
  • clonidine
  • spironolactone
  • thiazide diuretics
  • alcohol and drugs such as cocaine
  • opioids
  • SSRI and tricyclic antidepressants
  • anxiolytics
  • monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
  • amphetamines
  • 5 alpha-reductase inhibitors
  • anticholinergics
  • cimetidine
  • hormonal therapies

Although there is some evidence that horny goat weed may offer symptom relief in certain medical conditions, additional research is necessary.

What is horny goat weed?

Horny goat weed is a plant whose leaves are used medicinally. In Chinese medicine, at least 15 species of horny goat weed are known as “yin yang huo”. It belongs to the genus Epimedium and the family Berberidaceae.

It is believed to contain chemicals that may help increase blood flow and improve sexual function. It also contains phytoestrogens, chemical compounds that act similarly to estrogen, the female hormone.

Other names:

Barrenwort, Épimède, Épimède à Grandes Fleurs, Épimède du Japon, Epimedium, Epimedium acuminatum, Epimedium brevicornum, Epimedium grandiflorum, Epimedium Grandiflorum Radix, Epimedium Korean, Epimedium macranthum, Epimedium pubescent, Epimedum, Herimedium sanitarium wimedum violace, Epimedum, Epimedium sagitium wimedus Cornée de Chèvre, Japanese Epimedium, Xian Ling Pi, Yin Yang Huo.

For what do you use it

As reported by Natural Medicines on its site on Dietary Supplements and Complementary and Alternative Therapies, the following uses are based on tradition, scientific theories, or limited research.

For the bones

The ingestion of a specific extract of horny goat weed for 24 months, together with calcium supplements, reduces the loss of bone mass of the spine and hips in women who have passed menopause, better than the use alone calcium. The chemicals in the extract are believed to act like the hormone estrogen.

Other benefits

Horny goat weed is also commonly used to treat sexual performance problems, such as erectile dysfunction and low sex drive, back and knee problems, joint pain, arthritis, fatigue, physical and mental, loss of memory, hypertension, bronchitis, heart disease, and liver disease. However, there is limited scientific evidence to support these uses.

However, there is also the risk of suffering certain side effects when consumed in excesses, such as dizziness, vomiting, dry mouth, thirst, nosebleeds, spasms, severe respiratory, heart or blood clotting problems, excessive decrease in pressure blood pressure, cancer, and thermosensitive conditions.

Due to the fact that horny goat weed could have effects similar to those of estrogen, it is not advisable to consume it together with an estrogen tablet or with antihypertensive drugs, such as captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan ( Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Nor should it be supplemented with anticoagulants, such as clopidogrel (Plavix), diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam, others), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, others), naproxen (Anaprox, Naprosyn, others), dalteparin (Fragmin), enoxaparin (Lovenox), heparin, warfarin (Coumadin), among others, or with medications that can cause irregular heartbeats, such as amiodarone

Why are dandelions considered weeds when they are colourful, hardy, low maintenance, and have elaborate flowers?

The foliage is coarse and interrupts the Stepford Wife monotone of a zombie suburban lawn. I’mI’m not big on grass, and I would never dump chemicals on turf, but dandelions fuck up a pleasing texture. A little bit of yellow goes a long way. And what’s up with that puff of seed? You can choke on a thing like that.

They self-seed like crazy. It’s astonishing. And frightening. The tap root goes straight down to Hades, and who wants that? Small, crouched old women from foreign places steal the leaves ‘for a salad”—or so they claim. You can make wine from dandelions, and alcoholism is no joke. A lawn full of dandelions is an early sign of drug addiction.

Dandelions are illegal immigrants. They came to America (without visas!) from Europe and Asia, and now they’re taking over everything. They’re murdering innocent grass blades and raping our pristine lawns.

What about our culture? What about our children?

Grab a knife, kill a dandelion, and help make America—no. I don’t dare. The comment trail might get bloody.

Why do goats regurgitate?

Because goats are bloody!

Because goats are ruminants.

It’s normal for goats to regurgitate their food, as that is how the rumen works. Their cud is made of fibrous materials that need to be chewed twice.

Check out their digestive tracts.

Goats eat both red and blue arrows.

Is it weed or not?

Cannabis, aka weed, marijuana, pot, Ganga, etc., is an annual woody flowering herb from the order Rosales, family Cannabaecbae, and genus Cannabis.

The three species are cannabis sativa, cannabis Indica, and cannabis ruderalis. In some areas where cannabis grows wild, it may be considered a ‘weed’ in the common gardening sense; however, it is usually cultivated intentionally.

What are some interesting or unknown facts people don’t know about goats?

Do you know this thing?

This cuddly critter is a mountain goat; even though they’re called “goats,” mountain goats aren’t goats!

Mountain goats belong in Caprinae, the goat-sheep family, but fit neither in Ovis (sheep) nor Capra (goats) and are thus miscellaneous. As such, any miscellaneous bovine is an antelope (“antelope” is Bovidae’s misc. category, not an actual taxonomic affix), so mountain goats are technically antelopes! The only other antelope native to North America is the musk ox.

The real wild goats are in the genus Capra, like the wild goat (Capra aegagrus), the wild ancestor of today’s domestic goats. Mountain goats are placed in Oreamnos.

This is a true goat. The one pictured here is a Bezoar ibex (Capra aegagrus), a subspecies. It isn’t a lesser-known fact since almost everyone who knows their goats knows this. But the general public isn’t aware, so yeah.

Disclaimer: I know I called the mountain “goats” cuddly, but as User-11033432475978485387 pointed out, they are anything but. Like all wild animals, mountain goats can be extremely aggressive – one hiker a while ago was killed by one. Please give them and all wild animals a wide berth! Don’t even think about petting them. Domestic goats may cuddle up to you. Mountain “goats” will handily toss you off the side of the mountain.

What types of weeds are there?

There are thousands of known varieties of weed on the market, which all stem from the same three (or four) species of the cannabis genus:

  1. Cannabis sativa (c. sativa) large growing plants from warm climates, higher in THC and THCV
  2. Cannabis indica (c. indica) bushy growing plants from temperate climates, higher in resin and CBD
  3. Cannabis ruderalis (c. ruderalis) non-photoperiodic [autoflowering] hemp, crossed with c. indica and c. sativa to make ‘auto-flowering strains’
  4. Cannabis afghanis (C. afghanis) is a hybrid of C. sativa and C. indica that is sometimes considered a species, although it is less commonly listed as such nowadays.

The biggest influence on modern cannabis is genetics from the Hindu Kush mountain range (Kush).

Strains like “Blue Dream,” “OG Kush,” and “Sour Diesel” are all hybrids (crossbreeds) made from breeding together different varieties of cannabis.

The amazing part about growing cannabis is that anyone can develop their strains. You can do this by growing male and female cannabis plants and letting them breed together.

I have my strains. Who else does, too?
